The Melbourne Olympic Park Trust manages two of Australia’s most iconic sporting venues, the Rod Laver Arena & Vodafone Stadium. Located within the one complex, Rod Laver has been in operation from the late 1980’s and Vodafone Stadium was completed in 2000.
MOPT required an alternative to the powered aisle lighting system used in Rod Laver Arena, which needed to perform in both outdoor and indoor conditions given the stadium operated with a retractable roof. It was required to have a non-slip factor which exceeded Australian standards and be durable enough to withstand the foot traffic of over one million visitors per year.
We used a clear anodized aluminium non-slip profile with a long lasting luminous polypropylene insert, providing a low maintenance alternative to the previous system.
The installation was complete within 3 days and the stairs were able to be walked on immediately. Following the successful completion of this job, we carried out the same works at Vodafone Stadium during the construction process.
