The Collins Class Submarines are a key element of the Australian Defence Force and are considered to be the most advanced of their kind worldwide. Built by ASC in the early 90’s, they remain in operation today.

Given the nature of the vessels, a marking system was required which could inform crew of safety information at all times, which often included periods of complete darkness. The initial specifications dictated that the markings should be printed on a PVC base.

Way Out were the successful bidders to supply all luminous markings to ASC for use in the submarines. The Subsafe team at ASC have been very proactive in ensuring that the submarines are up to date with the latest technology, so over the years we have upgraded the markings to a fire rated aluminium system.
